About us
the Breast Cancer Art Project
The release of creative energy generates internal activity that helps produce physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Visual art; by pondering its apparent and symbolic meaning, can be cathartic and rewarding. It is used as a means of expressing hidden emotions and gaining benefits provided by the act of creation. Art therapy is based on the belief that the act of creating or viewing visible products enables patients to express and communicate inner emotions. Art therapy appears to improve wellbeing, enhance quality of life, and provide distractions during times of difficulty. Some patients’ optimistic approach to taking control of their health, forming a support system, and finding themselves along the way is a truly inspirational approach to a devastating diagnosis.
